A plain explanation of what happens with data while you are on celebrateuganda.com

What we collect while you are on the site

Visit analytics: each visit creates an anonymous session record with the time you arrived, the time of your last activity, and how long you stayed
Pages viewed: the paths of the pages you open on this website and when you opened them, so we can see which parts of the site are most used
Approximate country: your network request already includes an approximate country, which we store together with the session. We do not store your full IP address in our database
Device signals: basic technical information sent by your browser, such as browser type and referring page

Player name: if you submit a score to the game leaderboard, the name you type is stored with your score and shown publicly on the leaderboard. Please do not use your full legal name or any personal detail you do not want public
Email contact: if you email media@celebrateuganda.com, we receive your message and email address so we can reply
Local game data: your progress, difficulty and best scores are stored in your own browser's local storage and are not sent to us unless you submit a leaderboard score

Donations are processed by Stripe on Stripe's own secure checkout page. We never see or store your card details
Stripe processes your payment information under its own privacy policy

To understand how many people visit, how long they stay, and which pages are most valuable
To keep the game leaderboard working and fair
To improve the website, our content, and our cultural programmes
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising profiles

Analytics records are locked to server-side access only and are visible to the Celebrate Uganda team through a password-protected admin view
Leaderboard names and scores are public by design
Our website, database, and payments run on trusted service providers who process data on our behalf

Analytics records are kept only as long as they are useful for understanding site usage, then removed
You can clear local game data at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site
You may request removal of a leaderboard entry or any data linked to you by emailing media@celebrateuganda.com

This website is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If a child has submitted a name to the leaderboard, contact us and we will remove it

This site is still under development, so this policy may be updated as new features are added
